Morocco’s Mohamed Rabie Hrimat has been crowned Man of the Competition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), tagged PAMOJA 2024, after inspiring his nation to a record third title after a 3-2 win over Madagascar in Saturday’s final in Nairobi.
The Atlas Lions’ captain was at the heart of his side’s campaign from the group stage to the decider, scoring twice, creating two goals and providing consistent leadership in midfield.
His performances underlined his reputation as one of Africa’s finest home-based players and cemented Morocco’s dominance in the tournament.
Lamlioui Clinches Puma Top Scorer Award
Morocco’s Oussama Lamlioui was crowned the Puma Top Scorer of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), after scoring his fifth and sixth goals of the tournament in the Atlas Lions’ 3-2 victory over Madagascar in Saturday’s final.
The striker’s decisive brace – in the 44th and 80th minutes – not only secured Morocco’s third CHAN title but also set him apart in the Puma Top Scorer race.
He finished ahead of South Africa’s Thabiso Kutumela, Uganda’s Allan Okello and Algeria’s Soufiane Bayazid, who each scored three goals.
Senegal Wins CHAN 2024 Fair Play Award After Bronze-Medal Finish
Senegal have been awarded the Fair Play trophy at the African Nations Championship (CHAN), as the Teranga Lions were recognised for exemplary discipline, respect and sportsmanship across the tournament co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
The Teranga Lions received their award on Saturday in Nairobi following the final match of the month-long competition held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Senegal again finished on the podium, sealing bronze after a penalty shootout victory over Sudan in Friday’s third-place play-off at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Morocco’s 3-2 victory over Madagascar at Nairobi’s Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani sealed their third CHAN title, surpassing the Democratic Republic of Congo’s tally of two.
It was a triumph built not only on attacking talent but also on experience and composure.
