Christians throughout the World on Sunday marked Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem over two thousand years ago.

In Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, North Central Nigeria, Christians trooped out in large numbers to participate in the yearly procession that took off from Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo Oke, Ilorin at about fifteen minutes to nine o’clock on Sunday morning.

The peaceful procession, which lasted over four hours, passed through Muritala road, Maraba, Amilegbe, Ipata, Opo-Malu, part of Emir`s road, Taiwo road, Unity Road, Muritala Mohammed way, Post Office, and terminated at the starting point for benediction.

Another batch of Christians took off at First Baptist Church, Surulere, through the State General Hospital, Upper Taiwo road, and linked up with other Christians at Unity junction for onward movement to Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo-Oke.

The participants who held Palm fronds were singing, dancing, and shouting Hosanna, in a triumphant celebration of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In a chat with Newsmen, the Chairman of the State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Sunday Adewole, called on Christians to be humble, embrace peace and love themselves and their neighbours as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, who rode on a colt.

Bishop Adewole urged Nigerians to be alive to their responsibilities and renew their faith to serve God wholeheartedly.

He noted that Jesus Christ died for the salvation of mankind and to save the World from damnation, calling on the people to be holy and move closer to God in humility.

Also speaking, Deaconess Funke Olatunji called on the people to emulate the humility exhibited by Jesus Christ for the oneness and progress of the Nation.
