The Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has felicitated with the Christian community in the state as they join other Christians all over the world to mark this year’s Christmas.
Governor Yahaya urged them to use the period to pray for peace, security and prosperity of the state as well as an end to the global pandemic of COVID-19.
In his goodwill message, Governor Yahaya charged Christians and the entire people of the state to rededicate themselves and remain steadfast in prayers against all the challenges bedeviling the state and humanity in general.
He gave the assurance that his administration is committed to continue initiating and executing policies and programmes that will affect the lives of the citizenry positively and promote unity and peaceful coexistence in the state.
“On this significant occasion of Christmas, I extend my best wishes to the Christian community and all citizens of the country. This period reminds us of God’s love for humanity and the need to uphold the virtues of compassion, tolerance and love as exemplified by Jesus Christ. I also call on all of us to reflect on the lessons of the season, which presents an opportunity to love and share,” Governor Yahaya said.
According to the Governor, although this year’s celebration is coming at a period the world is still grappling with the novel Coronavirus and its devastating impact on lives and means of livelihood of the people, such should not deter us from imbibing the good lessons of the season.
Governor Yahaya urged everyone to pray fervently for an end to the pandemic. He advised the people to continue to keep safe and adhere strictly to the laid down protocols and guidelines on COVID-19 as they worship and celebrate, especially in view of the resurgence of the pandemic.
