Coach Sami Trabelsi Leaves Tunisia After AFCON Exit.

Tunisia head coach Sami Trabelsi has left his position following the team’s elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations at the Round of 16 stage, the country’s football federation confirmed.

In a statement on facebook, the federation said it had mutually agreed to terminate the contracts of Trabelsi and the entire technical crew of the senior national team.

The decision followed Tunisia’s dramatic penalty shootout defeat to Mali on Saturday. The match ended 1–1 after extra time, before Mali who were reduced to 10 men prevailed 3–2 on penalties.

Trabelsi, 57, was appointed in February for a second spell in charge, having previously coached Tunisia between 2011 and 2013.

His departure brings an early end to his latest tenure as the Carthage Eagles look to regroup after another disappointing AFCON campaign.
