Cross River State Governor Cancels Bikers’ parade

Saddened by the tragedy of the Bikers’ and vintage cars carnival, the governor of Cross River in south-south Nigeria, Professor Ben Ayade has cancelled the 2022 Bikers’ parade.
According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Mr. Christian Ita, the governor was saddened over what he described as “the ugly incident where an errant motorist ploughed into a crowd that thronged the carnival route to watch the bikers’ parade.”
Ita, in the statement, indicated that  Governor Ayade was devasted by the incident and has directed security agencies to apprehend the motorist, who is on the run.
While sympathizing with the victims of the accident and their families, according to the statement, “Governor Ayade ordered an immediate investigation to unravel how the motorist was able to get through security barricades to have access to the route, which were closed to the public.”
Ita noted that the governor ordered that the Bikers’parade be immediate discontinued in honour of the victims of the accident.
He also indicated that the governor assured the families of the victims of his commitment to arrested and prosecute the errant driver and sued for calm.
