Odey, who is also the former majority leader and representative of Ogoja state constituency, described the 9th Assembly as the best that Cross River State has ever had and unique because of the seamless commitment to serve the people.

“…Besides, the 9th Assembly has produced a deputy governor, a senator and House of Representatives member.

“We have those that have advanced to higher legislature and executive elected positions.
“My appeal to those returning for second and third tenures is to ensure that the Cross River State House of Assembly is protected, and I can assure you that anything that has to do with this Assembly will be protected because the governor was a legislator in the Senate, and I was the majority leader of the 9th Assembly.
“I would also appeal for the 10th Assembly to get the required training and the Assembly staff be trained and retrained to serve the people of Cross River State alongside the Executive.
“Let us collaborate to move the State to the next level.”

Appreciating Support
In his valedictory speech, the Speaker of the 9th Assembly and Senator-elect for the Cross River Central Senatorial District, Mr. Eteng Jonah Williams, thanked the members for the unity, support and team spirit exhibited throughout the four-year service to the people.Williams, who represented Yakurr 2 state constituency, also commended the executive arm of government as well as staff of the State Assembly for the cooperation, which led to the passage of several relevant bills.

“My heartfelt gratitude also goes to the people of Yakurr 2 for allowing me to represent them for twelve years. Without this mandate, the opportunity to serve would not have been possible.
“I must commend the synergy between the Executive and Legislature. We have worked like a team. It does not mean that we have not had disagreements, but we always found a way to resolve matters in the interest of the people we serve,” he said
He congratulated the 10th Assembly members for finding time to attend the valedictory session and enjoined them to function as a team for the benefit of the people as well as avoid division on party ground.
