The Kebbi State government has made a resolution to support the National Agency for Great Green Wall’s initiative to facilitate the planting of trees across the 21 local government areas as a way of addressing desertification in the area.

The Deputy Governor Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabi in his statement, assured that he would support the agency.

The Deputy Governor made this disclosure while receiving the Director General of the agency, Yusuf Maina Bukar to his office in Birnin Kebbi.

Kabi symbolically planted a tree in the cabinet office to commemorate World Great Green Wall Day.

He used the Groaxis Water Box, a novel technique for planting. During this event, Ahmed Majidadi Bagudo, the Director of Rural Development and Extension Services, represented the Director General who informed the Deputy Governor that the new system was created to address the shortage of rainfall in countries, including Nigeria, around the world.

In his remarks, Bagudo suggested that the introduction of Groaxis Water Box could help plants grow faster, potentially allowing them to go up to six months without water.
