The Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Michael Francis Crotty has called on Nigerians to embrace the message of hope and joy that comes with the Easter celebration, reminding the faithful that the resurrection of Christ assures believers that suffering and hardship will not have the final word.
Delivering his Easter message in Abuja, the Papal representative said that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a powerful reminder that even amid trials and uncertainties, brighter days are always ahead.
“Easter reminds us that despite all sufferings, there is always a better promise in God and in Jesus Christ. It is the central celebration of the Christian faith because it proclaims victory over suffering, despair, and death,” he said.
The Apostolic Nuncio said that “the message of the resurrection offers renewed courage to believers facing difficult circumstances.”
“He urged Christians across Nigeria to remain steadfast in hope and to draw strength from the promise of new life brought about by the resurrection of Christ,” he noted.
Archbishop Crotty further encouraged the faithful to allow the joy of Easter to inspire acts of love, solidarity, and compassion toward one another, especially those experiencing hardship.
He also prayed that the celebration of Easter would renew the faith of Christians and strengthen their commitment to building a society rooted in peace, justice, and mutual respect.
As Christians around the world mark the Easter season, the Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama called on believers to reflect on the spiritual significance of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection.
In his Good Friday message, the Archbishop described Easter as a celebration of victory, Christ’s victory over sin, death, and the powers of evil.
Archbishop Kaigama said; “Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, came to teach humanity how to live according to God’s will.
“He showed the love of God, performed acts of good, yet was treated like a criminal and brutally killed. But through His resurrection, He proved that death cannot have the last word. Victory is assured when we align our lives with Christ.”
He noted that the spiritual significance of this celebration remains as powerful as ever. Easter commemorates the ultimate victory of Jesus Christ, who came into the world to teach humanity how to live in accordance with God’s will.
