The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sokoto State Chapter, Reverend Dr Kayode Moses James, has called for renewed faith, unity, and urgent action to address insecurity in the state and across Nigeria.

He made the call during an Easter Praise and Prayer for Peace held at Deeper Life Bible Church in Sokoto with the theme, “Jesus is Alive.”

Addressing the Christian faithful, Reverend James emphasised the significance of Easter by describing the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbol of victory over sin, death, and darkness.

He said the resurrection offers hope and reassurance that peace can return to troubled regions, including Sokoto State and the wider Northern Nigeria.

Speaking on insecurity, he lamented the impact of banditry, kidnapping, and violent attacks on communities, which he said have led to loss of lives, displacement, and widespread fear among citizens.

He, however, urged believers to remain firm, emphasising that faith cannot be silenced.

Dr. James urged the government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward restoring peace and protecting lives and property while also calling on citizens to embrace unity and mutual respect.

He further encouraged Christians to live out the message of the resurrection by promoting peace, love, and hope in their communities.

He commended church leaders and members for their resilience and unwavering faith despite challenges, noting that the gathering reflected unity among different Christian denominations.

The CAN chairman concluded with extensive prayers for divine intervention, healing for victims of violence, and lasting peace in Sokoto State and Nigeria.
