The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, calling for unity, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to national security as the country marks the 2026 Easter celebration.

The CDS described Easter as a sacred season symbolising sacrifice, courage, hope, and the triumph of good over evil, noting that these values align closely with the responsibilities of the military profession.

He said, “The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ remain a powerful reminder that true leadership and service are rooted in selflessness, courage and unwavering dedication to a greater cause, virtues he said are demonstrated daily by Nigerian troops.”

General Oluyede paid tribute to fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, stressing that their bravery and patriotism will forever remain part of the nation’s history and will never be forgotten.

He also honoured wounded personnel and troops currently deployed across various theatres of operation, commending their resilience, dedication, and continued efforts in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and protecting citizens.

The CDS called on members of the Armed Forces to remain united, vigilant, and steadfast in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, emphasising the importance of professionalism, cooperation with other security agencies, and collaboration with communities in addressing security challenges.

He further appreciated the families of military personnel, particularly those whose loved ones are on deployment during the festive period, acknowledging their patience, sacrifice, and unwavering support in boosting troop morale and operational success.

General Oluyede urged all Nigerians to embrace a whole-of-society approach in the fight against terrorism.

He reaffirmed that with collective resolve, courage, and faith, the Armed Forces would continue to defend the nation and uphold peace, security, and stability, while wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and blessed Easter celebration.
