The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has felicitated with Christians in the FCT and across Nigeria on the occasion of Easter, urging renewed hope, sacrifice and national unity.

In her Easter message, Ike described the celebration as a cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising victory over death, the triumph of light over darkness, and the promise of redemption and eternal hope.

She noted that the season calls for deep reflection on the virtues of sacrifice, love, forgiveness and selfless service, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

According to her, the Lenten period preceding Easter, characterised by fasting, prayer and acts of charity, reflects the spiritual commitment of Christians and underscores values essential for peaceful coexistence, moral integrity and compassion in society.

The NUJ FCT Chairman urged Christian faithful, particularly journalists, to uphold these virtues in their daily lives by promoting truth, fairness and responsibility in the discharge of their duties while contributing meaningfully to national development.

She also called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace unity, tolerance and mutual respect, stressing that the nation’s strength lies in its diversity and shared purpose.

Ike further encouraged citizens to extend love and kindness to the less privileged, describing Easter as not only a celebration of faith but also a season of giving and compassion.

She urged leaders at all levels to draw inspiration from the spirit of sacrifice and service that Easter represents by prioritising the welfare of citizens, promoting justice and fostering inclusive governance.

While wishing Christians a joyful celebration, the NUJ FCT Chairman advised Nigerians to mark the occasion responsibly and in an atmosphere of peace and goodwill.

She expressed hope that the resurrection of Christ would renew the nation’s unity and usher in lasting peace and prosperity.
