Ebonyi Government brings peace to warring communities

Following the acquisition of disputed land between Enyigba and Enyibichiri Communities in Abakaliki and Ikwo Local Government Areas respectively, all in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, the state government has embarked on partitioning the disputed acquired land to the two communities.

The State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, who is also the Chairman of the Committee overseeing the disputed land, Barrister Cletus Ofoke made this Known to Journalists at the demarcation site in Abakaliki the state capital.

Barrister Ofoke maintained that the partitioning of the boundary would enhance the existing peace between the two communities.

“The acquisition of land was done in accordance with the law, the Committee in line with the directive of the Governor of the State, Engr David Umahi is demarcating the disputed land for the two communities for the purpose of farming and not as if the land belongs to them any longer”

“Henceforth, any of the communities who attacks each other will receive the full weight of the law”. Ofoke said.

The Attorney General thanked the Governor of the State, Engr David Umahi for his fatherly love for the two communities.

The Commissioner urged them to embrace this lasting peace which the state Government has brought to the two communities.

The Special Assistant to Governor on Internal Security and Public Utilities Ebonyi South Zone, Mr Chika Nwangele cautioned the two communities to always be peacemakers.

“It is only peace that can attract the developmental projects of the Governor, Engr David Umahi, without peace, the community will not be conducive for development to come”. Chika said.

Also, the Special Assistant to Governor on Internal Security Urban, Mr Mark Onu said the peace in the two communities is a welcome development.

The Local Government Area Chairmen of Abakaliki and Ikwo, Mr Emmanuel Nwangele and Mr Steve Orogwu respectively expressed joy over the exercise.

The site Engineer from the State Ministry of Works and transport, Engr Ruben Ibe said the demarcation was done in line with the drawing plans given to them.

“The drawing plans was measured by 5 metres width and 3 metres depth”. Ibe said.

The traditional Rural of Enyigba Community, Eze Micheal Nwobashi, the President General, Mr Sunday Nwofoke, the youth leader, Mr Uchenna Ede thanked State Government for coming to their aid.

The Technical Assistant to the Governor on Security, who is from Enyibichiri Ikwo urged people to maintain peace at all times.
