Ebonyi Government Calls For Harmonisation Of Foreign Health Partners

Ebonyi State Government Southeast Nigeria has has advised all the Health Partners both Foreign and Local to go into Harmonisation in order to avoid duplication of health Services to Health Centers and to people as well.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Ekuma Moses gave this directive during the one day Quarter 3 Health Sector Partners Forum Meeting and Launching of the Human Resource for Health HRH Policy and Strategic Plans Document and Ebonyi State Health Workforce Registry.

This Workshop was organised by Ebonyi State Government in Collaboration with Health Workforce Management in Abakaliki.

Dr Ekuma Said, “Yes when I assumed office as Commissioner for Health, I discovered that there are many Health Partners in the State like USAID and UNICEF funded Agencies but those health partners are not Harmonized.

“Sometimes, you see more than three partners doing the same function in the healthcare delivery while other areas Will be left unattended.

“It’s good to harmonize them so that Ebonyi people will benefit maximally from their supports

“What I mean by harmonization is that if partner ‘A’ is already handling awareness campaign and training of staff, others should go into Provision of drugs, kits and how to prevent infectious diseases,” Ekuma added.

The Commissioner directed that all partners should submit all their work plans to his office in order to help them plan their activities in the State.

Consequently, he thanked the Governor of the State, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru for Prioritizing the Health Sector in the State since his assumption of office.

The Executive Director Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency EBSHIA, Dr Divine Igwe said he was glad to be in that 3rd Quarter meeting of the Health Workforce.

Dr. Igwe said,  “I want to tell you that His Excellency the Governor of Ebonyi State, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru has even started doing what is contained in the work plan even before this launching today.”

He promised to work had to help the Governor acheive his mission in the State.

Moreso, the Director Planning, Research and Statistics DPRS, Mrs Adanna Ugwoke said, “Today, we had our 3rd Quarter Coordination Meeting and Launching of HRH Policy and Strategic Plan Document and Ebonyi State Health Workforce Registry.”

Mrs Ugwoke added that the quarterly meeting helps in bringing all the Health Workforce together in order to advance in Universal Health Coverage.

The Director thanked the Governor of the State what has recruited Health workers in the various health Centers in the State.

Some of the Health Partners who participated in the meeting were, State Technical Lead, President Malaria Initiative Scheme; World Health Organization Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Simisola Adediji; State Program Coordinator USAID Health Workforce Management, Dr Ibiam Azu; Logistics Manager, USAID Global Health Supply Chain- Procurement and Supply Management; and USAID Integrated Health Program Leadership and Governance Advisor, Mrs Chinyere Ikwuako among others.
