The Government of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and tranquility in all the crisis ridden communities in the State, especially the Abomege/ Ishinkwo communities in Onicha Local Government Area of the State.
The State Commissioner for Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Donates Ilang, made this known during the weekend while supervising the ongoing Demarcation of Land between Abomege and Ishinkwo people who have been in an age-long crisis of land dispute since 1912.
Dr. Ilang said peace is one of the utmost mantras of the present Government led by Governor Francis Nwifuru.
He called on the people of the two communities to remain grateful to the Governor of Ebonyi State, who has brought permanent peace in Onicha Local Government Area.
“Our Governor, Francis Nwifuru, hates crisis; that is why he has restored peace in all the communities that have been in crisis before he came to power.”
“As you may be aware that the blood of innocent people has been wasted here in this land, and I thank God that this particular Government has brought peace,” Ilang added.
The Commissioner warned the people of that area never to truncate the peace which has come to the land as Government will not take it lightly with such persons or individual.
The Surveyor in charge of the demarcation, Okeroku Henry, adviced the people of Abomege and Ishinkwo to accept peace and forever remain grateful to God Almighty who has used the Governor of the State to perfect this peace plan.
Okeroku used the medium to dismiss the allegations against him that he is not using the original map.
“This is a land issue, and everyone knows the implications of lying on anything land. This map we are using today has been there since 1912, I didn’t manufacture it,” Okeroku said.
He thanked the Commissioner, who has committed to ensuring that there is peace in all parts of the State.
