Edo Queens Win 2024 NWFL Super 6 Championship

Edo Queens emerged Champions of the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super 6 Championship Playoff after they played out a 1-1 draw in their last match with the host side, Bayelsa Queens on Sunday to finish top of the table with 10 points in four matches.

Also, Rivers Angels came 2nd with 9 points after playing 1-1 draw with Heartland Queens of Owerri.

The host, Bayelsa finished 3rd with 9 points but with inferior goals difference, after playing 1-1 draw with the eventual winners of the playoff.

Coach Moses Aduku’s side finished top of the NWFL Super Six playoff table with 10 points from four games to grab the title.

Emem Essien opened scoring for Edo Queens with an acrobatic finish inside the box a minute before the halfhour mark.

Bayelsa Queens rallied for an equalizer from Zainab Olopade equalizing four minutes after the break.

Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria at the 2024 West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.

They will also be able to qualify for the fourth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Benin Arsenals received a cash prize of N10million for the win.

The first runners-up, Rivers Angels, were awarded N5million, while Bayelsa Queens received N3 million.
