Eid al-Fitr: Borno Governor Felicitates With Muslims

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, alongside the Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima and the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, with other dignitaries, have participated in the Eid Prayer at Ramat Square in Maiduguri, Borno State capital to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

In his Eid message, Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for the opportunity to celebrate another Eid al-Fitri. He urged the people to continue to pray for the state and the nation amidst the trying times.

The governor emphasized the importance of lawfulness and patience especially with the government amidst the ongoing efforts to address the economic challenges brought on by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Addressing the prevalent issue of electricity blackouts and water shortages due to vandalism along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, Governor Zulum reassured the citizens of government’s commitment to restoring electricity to Maiduguri and its environs.

Governor Zulum acknowledged the recent engineering faults at the emergency gas plant but assured that both state and federal governments are actively exploring hydroelectric sources to alleviate the electricity shortages in Maiduguri.

Durbar festival 

In another event marking Eid al-Fitr, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, orchestrated a grand Durbar procession to honour the event.

The Durbar, a traditional horse march is a cherished annual tradition in Borno State where esteemed title holders elegantly ride horses in a parade.

Notable figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and other senior government officials graced the festival with their presence, adding to the splendour of the occasion.
