Eid Al-Fitr: Kwara NSCDC dispatches 3,500 Personnel

The Kwara State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dispatched a total of 3,500 personnel across the state to stave off breakdown of law and order during the Eid Al-Fitr celebration.

The command also instructed its Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of tactical units to enforce stringent security measures and maintain continuous vigilance over all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure within their jurisdictions.

The state Commandant of NSCDC, Umar Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Ayoola Michael Shola, in Ilorin .

Mohammed, in the statement, revealed that the deployment of personnel of the corps, spread across every corner of the state with the mandate to pay special attention to areas at high risk of criminal activities such as black spots, flash points, vulnerable targets, and places known for frequent criminal activities.

The commandant maintained that the personnel have been assigned the duties of preserving peace, averting disturbances, and swiftly addressing any security issue that may emerge before, during, and after the sallah festivity.

He emphasized that the corps is fully prepared to confront individuals with malicious intentions to disrupt peace and undermine law and order.

While congratulating Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of the Eid Al-Fitr celebration, Mohammed encouraged residents to cooperate with the corps and report any suspicious activities in their communities.

Meanwhile, as part of security measures for a hitch free Eid Al-Fitr celebration, vehicles with spy number plates would not be allowed access into the ancient Ilorin Eid prayer ground.

Similarly, leaflets and banners with political parties or organizations’ emblems as well as megaphone are to be turned back away from the sacred prayer facility.

This is just as the government vowed to arrest and prosecute anyone found to have run foul of the security measures emplaced.

The Chairman, Ilorin Eid Committee, Abdulrazaq Amuda, and the Director, Special Services, Governor’s office, Ilorin, Tajudeen Olawale Akanbi, made this in a joint statement issued in Ilorin yesterday.

They warned that movement of prospective worshippers in group would not be allowed, adding that they are to come to Eid individually and comport themselves in a good manner.

They said no motorcycle or tricycle rider would be allowed into Eid prayer ground with his motorcycle.

The Chairman, Ilorin Eid Committee, Abdulrazaq Amuda, and the Director, Special Services, Governor’s office, Ilorin, Tajudeen Olawale Akanbi also prohibited hawking and begging along the routes and inside the prayer ground and pointed out that appropriate places have been provided within the prayer ground for such purposes.

They threatened that law enforcement agencies would deal with disobediences.

The Chairman, Ilorin Eid Committee, Abdulrazaq Amuda, and the Director, Special Services, Governor’s office, Ilorin, Tajudeen Olawale Akanbi explained that no sachet or bottled water and can beverage would be allowed at the prayer ground as provision has been made for adequate water for ablution.

They enjoined members of the public not to observe their prayers at the road sides or along the routes as the Eid prayer ground can accommodate all intending worshippers.

The Chairman, Ilorin Eid Committee, Abdulrazaq Amuda, and the Director, Special Services, Governor’s office, Ilorin, Tajudeen Olawale Akanbi urged parents to take adequate care of their children to prevent them from roaming about at the prayer ground.

They also called on worshippers to endeavour to perform ablution, urinate and defecate at designated areas within the Eid prayer ground.

“Members of the public are advised to be law abiding and follow instructions as may be given by the law enforcement agencies.

“Movement of people in group would not be allowed. Worshippers are to come to Eid individually and comport themselves in a good manner.

“All broken-down vehicles parked along the Eid road or premises are expected to be removed by their owners before Monday, April 8, 2024. Any defaulter shall have his vehicles towed away by law enforcement agents and would not be released without an option of a fine.

“Vehicles with spy plate numbers will not be allowed into the Eid prayer ground; and “the people coming from Itikaf will not be allowed to come to the Eid-prayer ground with their bags or luggage”.
