Eid al-Fitr: NACA Advocates for Health-Conscious Celebrations

As Muslims nationwide celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), takes the opportunity to emphasize the importance of health-conscious celebrations amidst the joyous occasion.

The Director General of NACA, Dr. Temitope Ilori extends warm greetings and blessings to all Muslim faithfuls, underlining the significance of maintaining vigilance against the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.

“While Eid al-Fitr is a time of jubilation and togetherness, it is crucial to remember the principles of purity and sanctity observed during Ramadan,” she said.

In a statement signed by the Head, Public Relations and Protocol, Toyin Aderibigbe, the Director General urges Muslims to continue practicing safe sexual behaviors and abstinence, emphasizing the role of adherence to Islamic teachings in safeguarding individuals and their partners.

Dr. Ilori encourages gatherings of families and friends to partake in festivities responsibly, advocating for the exchange of gifts, sharing of meals, and extending acts of kindness to the less fortunate.

“In the spirit of Eid al-Fitr, let us celebrate with compassion and consideration for our health and the well-being of others,” she added.

Furthermore, Dr. Ilori reaffirms NACA’s commitment to promoting health, well-being, and inclusivity for all communities, irrespective of faith or background.

She stresses the agency’s dedication to providing support and resources to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

“As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, let us prioritize our health and the health of our loved ones.

“By practicing caution and adhering to health guidelines, we can ensure that our celebrations are not only joyous but also safe for everyone involved.

“In the spirit of solidarity and empathy, NACA stands alongside the Muslim community, advocating for responsible celebrations and continued efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” she added.
