The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed two bills for laws to be enacted for proper maintenance and rehabilitation of deplorable roads in the state.

They are the Ekiti State Rural Access Roads Authority Bill (2023) and the Ekiti State Roads Funds bill (2023).

On Tuesday, the Lawmakers unanimously clamoured for the passage of the two bills into law because of their expected advantages for the people.

Legislators who contributed to debate on the bills variously affirmed that “they would have positive impact on Ekiti people, especially on farmers who would have access to good roads to transport farm produce.”

They agreed that the two bills would complement each other to promote and sustain development in the maintenance of all state roads.

According to the lawmakers, “the Rural Access Road Authority bill will be more effective through the passage of the State Road Funds bill.”

In her contribution, Speaker of the House, Mrs Olubunmi Adelugba commended her colleagues for their thorough consideration of the bills.

She expressed confidence that when they become law, they would enhance social and economic well-being of Ekiti people.
