Elections: Army cautions Troops against unlawful conduct

The Nigerian Army has warned Troops against any unlawful conduct during the upcoming general elections

The Assistant Director Army Public Relations Officer Guards Brigade, Captain Geoffrey Abakpa, in a statement disclosed that a delegation from the Operations Assessment team led by the Director Exams, Department of Army Standard and Evaluation (DASE) Brigadier General Adamu Yari Yakubu gave this warning during an assessment visit to troops of Guards brigade at the Brigade Forward Operations Base in Kwali  Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory.

He tasked troops to ensure a secured and peaceful environment for all Nigerians who go out to vote.

The team expressed optimism with the level of preparation by the combined troops adding that synergy is key towards ensuring a hitch free election

The senior officer further noted that Nigerians must conduct themselves in a lawful manner, stressing that electoral violence would not be tolerated from any quarter.

The Commander Guards Brigade Brigadier General Aminu Umar represented by the  Assistant Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Kayode Akinsowon said troops of the Brigade in synergy with sister security agencies have put all in place to ensure that the Federal Capital Territory remains safe and secured before and after the elections.

The combined troops according to the senior officer have been sensitized on electoral laws and code of conduct for the Armed Forces to ensure that no group of persons mislead them.
