Gwagwalada area council of the Federal Capital Territory FCT has recorded a high turnout of voters as the electorates came out en mass to exercise their franchise in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
A visit by the Voice of Nigeria’s correspondent Salihu Ali to some polling units in the town indicates that eligible voters came out as early as possible to vote.
A presiding officer in Polling Unit-028 of Demonstration Primary School Mr. Yusuf Shehu said the unit has 469 registered voters adding that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation instrument is working fine without any hitch.
Also, a presiding officer of Polling Unit 006 Sabon Gari, Miss. Busola Tijjani explained that the unit has 750 registered voters and all election materials are intact.
The Assistant polling officer of unit 025 Gwagwalada central ward Mr. Ayekpeku Joash informed VON that the unit with 481 registered voters has no challenges with either the election materials or security.
At polling unit 004 Gwagwalada central, the presiding officer Maimuna Abimaje said, the unit has the records of 750 registered voters and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation instrument has no challenge.
Also, the visit at Anguwan Gede polling unit 02 indicates a large turnout of voters queuing to vote.
The Presiding Officer Mr. Abubakar Hussaini said the unit 380 registered voters and elections are orderly.
