Equities Market ends week with 0.24% loss

The bearish trend on the equities market on Thursday continued on Friday, leading the market to close negative with indices dropping by 0.24%.

 

The All-share index depreciated by 0.24 percent to close at 41,001.99 points, being 97.16 points lower than Thursday’s 41,099.15 points. The market capitalization also dropped N51 billion to close at N21.448, lower than N21.499 recorded on Thursday.

 

The market sentiment was also negative as the day’s trading ended with 33 losers relative to 21 gainers.

 

At the end of Friday’s trading, a total of 591.45 million shares worth N5.07 billion exchanged hands in 5,767 deals.

 

WAPCO led the losers’ chart after a loss of N1.95k to close at N26.00. MRS was next with N1.20k loss to close at N11.20k, followed by Livestock with 28k loss to close at N2.52k.

 

On the flip side, Flour mill gained 40k to close at N32.00, followed by NCR which gained 28k to close at N3.12k and Cutix which gained 20k to close at N2.26k.

 

Transcorp had the highest volume of trade for the second consecutive day, trading 169.275 million shares worth N195.89 million, followed by Japaulgold which traded 47,278 million shares valued at N44.954 million.
