Ahead of Nigeria’s Round of 16 clash with Cameroon at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Super Eagles have been urged to improve the tactical aspect of their game to stand a chance of advancing to the quarter final.

A former Coach of the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles of Nigeria, Manu Garba gave this charge in an interview with Voice of Nigeria in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to him ‘’we need to improve our ability to support the man on the ball all the time, we are going into the knockout stage where winner takes it all. So this stage is going to be more of tactic. As we attack, we need to be conscious of defending too.’’

Garba warned the Super Eagles against underrating the indomitable lions of Cameroon despite their slow start to the tournament.

‘’Cameroon is one of the power houses in Africa despite their performance in AFCON. This is going to be one of the games of the tournament. I expect the super Eagles to up their game and improve on individual and team performance because the Cameroonian team is very physical.

Nigeria will play Cameroon in the round of 16 of the AFCON 2023 at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny on Saturday, January 27 by 9pm Nigerian time.

The last time the two giants met at the AFCON was in the 2019 edition in Egypt when the Super Eagles defeated the Indomitable Lions 3-2 in the round of 16 en route to their third-place finish.
