Former Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, died on Thursday morning, 3rd July 2025 at the age of 61 after a long illness.
Regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest goalkeepers, the former Stationery Stores and Go Ahead Eagles shot stopper had an illustrious career, earning 65 caps for the national team.
He also featured for the Super Eagles in the 1994 World Cup, Nigeria’s maiden appearance in the competition.
Rufai was also part of the Super Eagles team that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
