Experts Task Nigerians on Forest, Wildlife Preservation
Experts advise Nigerians to cherish and conserve forests and wildlife, due to their immense benefits and importance to humanity.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Isimone made the call at the university’s first Forest and Wildlife Management Symposium, which was held in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
The symposium themed “Building a Successful Career in Forestry”, the event, which also celebrated the International Day of Forests 2023, was organized by the Forestry and Wildlife Students Association (FOWSA, UNIZIK) in collaboration with the International Federation of Forestry Students (IFSA, Germany), It also included a book presentation, new students’ introduction to the department, as well as the 5th IFSA-FOWSA UNIZIK Awards Ceremony.

The university administration has made a number of efforts so far to conserve forests and natural resources in the school environment.
Additionally, he encouraged students and department management to develop an action plan that will help advance the cause of forest and wildlife conservation throughout the school environment.
In his keynote lecture at the event, the Head of Forestry and Wildlife at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Dr. E. A. In stating that forests provide food, fodder, and fuel to humanity through their renewable resources, Egwuatum noted that there is no waste in the forest because everything within the forest is beneficial to humanity.
Forests are also key to mitigating climate change, so people should always cherish and preserve forests and wildlife to ensure that they serve humanity’s needs in the future.
