Federal Government flags off special Cash Grant for Rural Women

Nigeria’s Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, @Sadiya_farouq, has flagged off the distribution of the Rural Women Cash Grant in Damaturu, Yobe State and Maiduguri, Borno State respectively.

 

 

The Special Cash Grant for Rural Women programme was introduced by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development @FMHDSD as part of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari’s @MBuhari social inclusion and poverty reduction agenda.

 

The objectives of the programme include to improve environmental sanitation and management; Encourage household financial and asset acquisition; Engage beneficiaries to attain sustainable livelihood; improve household consumption; Increase in utilization of health and nutrition services and improve school enrolment and attendance.

 

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Borno State, the Minister called for support:

“I am also optimistic that with the support and co-operation of Your Excellency and other stakeholders present here, we can lift 100 million out of poverty by 2030 as envisioned by President Muhammadu Buahri.”
