Federation election: Ex Head Coach urges Sports Minister to revive boxing
The Nigerian Sports Minister, Sunday Dare has been urged to rescue the federation from those who don’t have the best interest of developing sports, ahead of the Sports Federation elections.
The South-west representative on the Board of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) Adura Olalehin made the passionate appeal while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
The ex Boxing Head Coach said; ”he lack of good leadership was the reason behind Nigeria’s absence in the boxing event at the last Olympics Games in Japan.”
The All African Games medalist said the last administration didn’t do enough to develop the game stressing that any effort to bring previous administration back will further underdeveloped the sports.
Olalehin said; “The fact that Boxing game did not make it Olympics made me sad and the last administration didn’t do anything to make the country qualify for the Games.
“The former administration cannot be proud of any boxer that was discovered during their eight years reign. The only one produced in the last 6 years is Efe Ajagba. Right now, we are getting it wrong again and must re-strategise to get right this period.”
