Filmjoint Awards: Nollywood movie snags six nominations

Nollywood thriller “The Interrogation of Lotanna” has received six nominations for the 2025 Filmjoint Awards(TFA), an event that recognises excellence in cinematic short films globally. According to new reports, Filmjoint, the prestigious award’s organisers, announced the nominees for the 2025 edition on its website.

“The Interrogation of Lotanna” is nominated for the Best Jury Award for outstanding Storytelling, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Indigenous Film (Nigeria), Best African Film, Best Director, and Best Picture. The captivating drama, released on Aug. 23, is a gripping narrative centred on Lotanna that explores themes of justice, morality, and human complexity.

The star-studded short film is produced by Ibukun Serah Adetoyinbo and Oreoluwa Obadofin, with Reginald Jumbo, also known as Grandmaster Prime, writing and directing it and features William Chinoyenem, Cassey Oritsejolomi, Anthony Nwahiri, Francis Sule, Michael Embraiz, and Mr. Rala, among others.

The short film had earlier in the year won Best Nollywood Short Film at the Realtime International Film Festival (RTF) in Birmingham, United Kingdom. TFA is an Annual Merit Award presented by Filmjoint to recognise the excellence in cinematic short films around the world and promote the value that short films bring to cinema.

Eligible entries are short films yet to be released or screened on any platform, between five minutes to 30 minutes with complete screen credits and with adequate English subtitles if released in a language other than English.
