Fire Destroys Kogi State House of Assembly Building

Kogi State House of Assembly  in North-Central Nigeria, was in flames on Monday morning following a fire outbreak which gutted the chamber of the assembly .

The fire outbreak caused extensive damage from the roof to the floor of the house with some furniture and office items destroyed.

 

The Speaker of the house, Mathew Kolawole, and the state security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, were among the early callers at the assembly complex.

The cause of the fire has not been established by the authorities nor the leadership of the state assembly.

But the Speaker of the Assembly, however, said he suspected sabotage but did not give any further details, saying:

“We should leave security people to do their work and give us a report going forward,” the speaker said.

Security sources in the state told voice of Nigeria that investigations into the fire outbreak have commenced.
