A former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Ramalan Yero, has resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Yero’s resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the party leadership in the state on Saturday.

“With gratitude to Almighty Allah, I write to extend my sincere greetings and to formally inform you of my decision to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“In view of this, I hereby tender my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from September 30.

“Enclosed herewith is my membership card duly returned,” Yero added.

Yero, who previously served as the deputy governor of Kaduna State (2010 – 2012), became the governor (2012 – 2015) following the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash.

He, however, lost his reelection bid to former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
