Foundation counsels Nigerian youths to prioritise improved healthcare

A civic tech organisation, BudgIT Foundation, has counseled the Nigerian youths to place priority on their demands and also seek for accountability especially in the healthcare sector.

He disclosed this in Lagos at the unveiling of an artiste, Ladipo Eso, aka Ladipoe, as the Cultural Influencer for the CTAP Health Accountability Project.

The Global Director of the firm, Oluseun Onigbide, said that health is central to economic prosperity and must occupy a prime position in conversations in the country.

BudgIT partnered is a not-for-profit organisation, Connected Development, set up to sign the Mavin Records rap artiste in order to encourage youth participation in the demand for accountability in the health sector.

Onigbide said: “We are trying to transform how we engage audiences and we believe that music, pop culture and entertainment are key to expanding our influence, especially within the genZ generation.

“We are putting pressure on the citizens to engage the government. If we have more citizens who care about health, health funding, and accountability, the way people cared about police accountability during the EndSARS protest, we are going to have a shift in the system because health is the engine of the economy. A healthy workforce, a healthy population is what transforms the economy in the long run,” he added.

The Director, Connected Development, Kingsley Agu, stated that the artiste would champion conversation about healthcare and accountability.
