The Member representing Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam Federal Constituency, Yusuf Gagdi; former Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong; alongside Simon Mwadkwon, David Bitrus Barji, Beni Lar and Musa Bagos, have emerged winners in the National Assembly primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted across Plateau State.
It was earlier reported that the member representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, lost to his closest opponent, Tongshinen.
However, after due consultation, the Returning Officer for the Pankshin Kanam Kanke Federal Constituency, Barrister Nandom Kura, speaking to journalists, stated that Yusuf Adamu Gagdi secured 29,207 votes from a total of 31,150 votes cast and was the winner of the election.

He explained that the earlier results announced were not done in accordance with the constitution of the party, adding that as the returning officer, he was the only one authorised by the electoral committee to announce the results.
Meanwhile, Senator Simon Lalong clinched the party’s ticket for the Plateau South Senatorial District after polling the highest number of votes in the exercise.
In Plateau North, Mwadkwon, a former minority leader, secured the APC ticket with a commanding margin across the senatorial district.

Similarly, businessman Barji emerged winner of the Plateau Central Senatorial primaries, defeating incumbent Senator Diket Plang and other aspirants. 
Also, Beni Lar secured victory in the Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency primaries for the House of Representatives.

Bagos was declared the winner of the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency primaries.

In other results, Mr Joshua Dashe emerged as a candidate for the Qua’an Pan/Mikang/Shendam Federal Constituency, while Mr Idris Maje Wase clinched the Wase Federal Constituency ticket.
Similarly, Amb. Abubakar Sadiq Plaza won the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency primaries.
Chairman of the APC Plateau State Primaries Electoral Committee, Stella Okotete, who announced the results while addressing newsmen in Jos, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible.
She commended the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang; party leadership; and stakeholders for their support, as well as party members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise.
Okotete added that the conduct of the primaries was in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
