The Gombe State All Progressives Congress has adopted the Consensus means of having party leaderships in the forthcoming congresses at ward, local government and state levels.

This was part of the agreements reached at the end of the Stakeholders meeting held in Gombe. Reading out the resolutions reached at the end of the meeting, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said the adoption was in line with the Guideline of the APC National Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Policy.

Governor Yahaya said the party had also resolved that he, being the governor, would provide the leadership for the congresses to be held at the ward, local government and state levels in the state.

He said although the emergence of party leaders during the congresses would be determined by consensus, it was expected that corrections should be taken where necessary and the opportunity should be used in agreement in a way it would not be deemed faulty in any way.

He called on all party members to carry everyone along, especially new party members, who should be supported and encouraged to have a sense of belonging in the party.

The Gombe State Governor thanked party members for their support, which led to the victory of the party during the 2019 election, as he emphasised strongly on patience among members and that the progress made by the party in the state was well noted.

The Senator Representing Gombe central Senatorial District and former Governor of the state, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, said he supported the concensus means of selecting officials of the party from the wards, to the local governments and the state, which according to him demonstrates the unity of the party in the State.

Senator Goje called on party members to support Governor Yahaya, by  allowing him to steer the conduct of the party congresses in the State, because the governor had the capability of delivering  justice in the matter.

He encouraged party members totherefore called for understanding and cooperation across board irrespective of the outcome of the congresses, saying it is only by so doing that the party can wax stronger and continue  to provide good leadership in the State.

The Acting Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the APC in Gombe State, Mr Nitte Amangal, said the laws and guidelines of the party had made provision for concensus means of choosing party officials.

He expressed the confidence that theconsensus process of the party would further  strength and unite the party and continue to blossom. Similarly, other party stakeholders had expressed their support for the party’s decision, promising to ensure the unity and progress of the party.
