The Gombe State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, has approved over Thirty Eight Billion Naira as contract sum for the construction of 17 roads and some bridges across the State.
At the end of the SEC meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr. Meshack Lauco listed the projects to include 10.5 Kilometer road networks in Tunfure, a growing neighbourhood in the Gombe Metropolis, which has been calling on government to open up the area.
The Tunfure contract is being awarded at the cost of 6 billion, 498 million, 20 thousand and 96 naira 50 kobo.
Similarly other projects are the Kaltungo General Hospital road network, 3 span Bridge at Titi to Stangayari, the road network at the General Hospital Kumo, the 4. 55 kilometers Jalingo Township roads in Funakaye LGA, the 2.7 kilometers Bajoga township roads.
Also awarded are the 4.03KM Dumbu- Tsando road, the construction of 1.8 KM access road to Government Mega College Dadin Kowa and the 1.5 KM access road to Government Mega College Dukku.
Equally approved by the Gombe State Executive Council are contract for the construction of 1.55 KM of road network in the General Hospital Bajoga, the rehabilitation of 4.7KM Kumo township roads and the 11.5KM Kwadon- Kunji -Jada -Goni Bukar -Laleko to Sabongari.
The Gombe State Executive Council also approved the contract for the construction of a 4 span Bridge at Hayin Kwarin Misau, the 6 KM Kaltungo township roads, as well as the construction of access road to Government Mega College Kaltungo and the construction of 7 KM Billiri township road and a spur road to Kanuwal of Yamaltu Deba LGA.
The Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Mr. Abubakar Bappah, explained that the avalanche of road projects awarded by the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was not only targeted at attaining the goals of Network 11-100, but to deliver a sound and purposeful leadership to the people of the state and bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people.
All the projects have various completion periods of between 6 to 12 months.
