Gombe State Governor Continues Re-election Campaign

Governor Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe State’s Day three re-election campaigns across all 114 wards in the state has taken him to Kaltungo East, Gombe South Senatorial District.

The Governor is asking for the people’s mandate for a second term, to deliver to them democratic dividends more than he has done in the first term.

Day two took him to Balanga South, after he flagged off the ward-to-ward Campaign in Talase, the Headquarters of Balanga Local Government Area in the Gombe South Senatorial District.

The campaign train began on Monday, December 12, 2022, from the Headquarters of Balanga Local Government, Talase and covered the remaining four wards in the area, namely Gelengu, Swa, Bangu Dala-Waja and Degri.

Before commencing the campaigns at the Talase Township Stadium, the governor was at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of the Waja Chiefdom, the Bala Waja, Mr. Danjuma Muhammad, appreciated as a great honour for Governor Yahaya for to begin his re-election campaigns from his domain.

The Director General of the APC Campaign in Gombe State, Mr. Zubair Umar, called on the people of Balanga to choose wisely in the 2023 general election, by voting for APC candidates at all levels.

He charged the district and village heads to mobilize their subjects on the development projects executed by the Inuwa Yahaya-led APC administration.

“We did not ask you to campaign for us, it’s not your duty, but tell your subjects the truth about our development projects and let them decide,” Mr. Umar said.

The Governor Yahaya Campaign Train had at every stop of the campaign, promised to consolidate on his previous achievements recorded in the area, including the construction of a major road, the 21-kilometer road linking Balanga North and South worth more than 8 billion Naira, which according to stakeholders from the area, is the greatest gift to their people.

He promised to do more for the people and as such sought for their support to be able to open up the area by linking them up through more road constructions.

At the Palace of the Mai Kaltungo, the paramount traditional ruler of the Chiefdom, Mr. Saleh Mohammed,  Governor Yahaya called on his people to sustain the prevailing peace in the state to enable investors carryout oil exploration in the newly found oil fields in the State.

According to the Gombe State Governor, exploration will not only be disrupted but investors in other sectors of the economy of the State will leave the State if the people are not coexisting peacefully.

Already, there are verbal disagreement on social and conventional media over whether the location of oil fields is in Gombe or Bauchi communities.

Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya expressed worry and cautioned that dispute between communities in the State could also arise if measures were not taken to keep the communities peaceful.

He therefore said the traditional institutions are critical stakeholders in ensuring peaceful coexistence of the people.

He said, the desired economic benefit from the oil will only be a curse to communities and State in general if people continue to fight each other because of where the oil or exploration activities are sited.

The Governor later met with the rural dwellers in a peaceful campaign rallies in Kaltungo East, Kaltungo West, Ture, Awak, Kamo and Tungo wards where he rolled out promises to them if reelected while the people as well rolled out their demands.
