Governor Eno Urges Faith, Unity, Development in Easter Message

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has called on Nigerians to embrace faith, unity, and sustained development as they commemorate Easter.

In a State Easter broadcast from the Government House, Uyo, the governor anchored his message on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, saying

“Today, we join Christian faithful all over the world to celebrate Easter, a sacred event in the Christian calendar which marks the death, the burial and triumphant resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ,”

Reinforcing the spiritual essence of the season, he declared: “Jesus is alive”, adding that Easter is “defined by selfless love and sacrifice,” and further adding: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

The Governor expressed appreciation to Akwa Ibom citizens, “for your prayers and support; for the faith you have reposed in us.”

Detailing infrastructural strides in the state, he said: “We have embarked on the construction of over 1,300 kilometres of roads while an additional 167kms of roads had been approved:

“There is no local government area in this state that we have not touched.”

On social welfare, he disclosed: “We have built and handed over 355 Arise Compassionate Homes with a target of 500 units. adding “The sum of N20 million was approved for ward-level cooperative societies across 369 wards,”.

In agriculture, he highlighted the N2 billion agricultural grant and plans for a “Palm Tree Crop Revolution,” noting that the sum of N2.5 billion was recently approved for the purchase of 620,000 oil palm seedlings.

Addressing pensions, he said: “We have paid over N82 billion out of the N111 billion we inherited.”

On aviation development, he stated: “We remain committed to making Ibom Air the dominant airline of choice in Nigeria.”

Urging unity, he concluded: “Politics does not divide us… we should play politics of conviction and not of confrontation.”

“Happy Easter to us all!” he declared.
