Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, North East Nigeria, has lauded the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful rescue of two Catholic priests abducted in the Numan area earlier this year.

The Governor appreciated the DSS’s swift and professional response, which led to the release of Rev. Fathers Matthew David Dusami and Abraham Samman without the payment of any ransom.

The priests were abducted in February 2025 from their residence at a convent in Gweda Mallam, Numan Local Government Area.

Governor Fintiri also acknowledged the arrest of the suspected abductor, identified as Tahamado Jonathan Damien, a member of the same church, and two others.

“This operation underscores our commitment to making Adamawa a place where criminals find no refuge. We will not spare anyone found culpable, regardless of status,” the Governor stated.

He further praised the leadership of the DSS, both at the national and state levels, for their coordinated efforts and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all residents.

Highlighting the role of intelligence-sharing and inter-agency collaboration, Governor Fintiri emphasised that the collective efforts of the DSS, police, and armed forces are vital to building a secure environment that encourages investment and supports long-term socio-economic development.
