The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated a fully free psychiatric hospital and an elderly home in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
The facility is the first of its kind in southeastern Nigeria. It aims to provide comprehensive care and support for vulnerable populations
The N600 million, 500-bed facility was established by Seraphic Homes Foundation, the humanitarian arm of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMOM), under the leadership of Evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi.
The hospital offers comprehensive psychiatric care at no cost, including diagnosis, treatment, medication, rehabilitation, and accommodation, while the elderly home provides specialized care for senior citizens.

Governor Soludo described the project as a “beacon of hope” for marginalised groups and pledged ”full government support, including electricity supply and road access.”
Evangelist Obi said the facility fulfills a lifelong vision to provide proper care for mentally ill individuals and to replicate the initiative across southeastern Nigeria.
“Beginning next month, four vehicles will be deployed across Anambra to bring mentally ill individuals to the hospital for treatment. Everything will be free, with no payment or discrimination,” he said.
The Seraphic Psychiatric Hospital and Elderly Home underscores the role of faith-based organisations in addressing public health challenges in Nigeria, offering innovative solutions and dignity for marginalized populations.
