Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has on Tuesday, announced a mild cabinet swap involving two commissioners.

Makinde announced the cabinet swap at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, during the swearing-in ceremony of a new Commissioner, Mr Ayansiju Lawal.

The Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Professor Dahud Sangodoyin was moved to the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.

The ministry had been without a substantive Commissioner since the removal of the former Commissioner, Professor Rapheal Afonja, in August.

This is the second time Sangodoyin would be moved. He was initially at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

The newly screened Commissioner nominee, Lawal, who many had thought would be moved to the Ministry of Public Works, was however drafted to replace Sangodoyin at the Ministry of Establishment and Training.

The Governor disclosed that the cabinet reshuffle is aimed at strengthening the government towards achieving its agenda within the expected period, noting that his cabinet is one driven by ideas devoid of godfatherism.

He charged the new Commissioner on teamwork and professionalism in the discharge of his duties, urging other members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who are yet to get appointments to remain calm and patient with an assurance that all will still benefit.

Makinde said, “For us, we are all concerned majorly about what the people of Oyo State will say at the end of this administration. We are concerned about the legacy we want to leave for the people of Oyo State. I will like to also take this opportunity to tell some of our people that are angry because goodies have not got to them that patience is the watchword. It will soon get to them.”

He charged the newly appointed Commissioner to work in synergy with others with the aim of making a resounding success, saying, “This is a council where all of us don’t have godfathers, but God the father and the people of Oyo State to serve. We say our minds the way we see things and we try not to hold things against anybody. This appointment is a call to service” he said.
