On Wednesday, the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, and his Deputy Kelechi Igwe hailed the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Musa Kwankwaso, for being passionate about Nigeria, calling on him to unite with other presidential candidates of other political parties to rescue the country.

Umahi made this known while addressing Kwankwaso and his teeming supporters, who paid a courtesy visit to the Sani Abacha Presidential lodge, Old Government House, Abakaliki. The governor, represented by his deputy, applauded Kwankwaso for visiting Ebonyi State ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Igwe said, “You are a man whose passion for Nigeria can never be diluted. You carry the burden of Nigeria on your shoulders, and your coming to Ebonyi is not strange. You are here to harvest from the stream of waters so your mission is not misplaced. For those of us in Ebonyi State, David Umahi is a friend of all men of goodwill who desire good things for Nigeria.”

He assured the NNPP presidential candidate of maximum protection and security while in Ebonyi State.

“The governor and myself, including all commissioners, are APC stalwarts, and we uphold that principle firmly. But we owe you the duty of praying for you, and the prayer is that the will of God shall prevail in Nigeria. The days are gone when people will say it is their business. Nigeria’s project should be everybody’s business, whether you are in APC, NNPP, LP, or PDP. What is important is that men of goodwill, character and conscience, who desire Nigeria to continue to excel, should come together,” Igwe added.

He concluded by urging NNPP supporters in the state to eschew all forms of violence as they go about their campaigns, especially as the 2023 general election approaches.

Kwankwaso disclosed he was in Ebonyi to commission the party’s campaign office at the New Market Road, Abakaliki.

He lauded the governor for the dividends of democracy already witnessed in the state, urging him to give the NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Prophet Chris Adol-Awam, an enabling environment.
