In a compassionate show of solidarity, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, visited the Central School in Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.

The school serves as a temporary shelter for residents displaced by recent flooding in the region.

During her visit, Mrs. Soludo took the opportunity to assess the living conditions of those seeking refuge at the camp.

She focused particularly on hygiene, nutrition, and the overall sanitary environment to ensure residents’ well-being.

Engaging directly with the affected individuals, Mrs. Soludo encouraged them to remain hopeful and resilient, emphasizing that the state government is committed to their welfare during this challenging time.

This is a moment to build community,” she stated, urging residents to find strength in their unity.

Addressing the camp’s residents, Mrs. Soludo assured them that government support would persist to ensure their needs are met.

She also urged citizens to extend their compassion to those in other holding centers across Anambra State, believing that love and teamwork are crucial to overcoming these hardships.

Mrs. Soludo appealed to volunteers overseeing the camps to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and environmental cleanliness, stressing that poor sanitary conditions could lead to the outbreak of diseases.

In a commitment to health services, Dr. Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, the South East Zonal Coordinator of the World Health Organization (WHO), informed attendees that the organization would provide a mobile clinic and necessary medications to offer free medical care and monitor health conditions within the camp.

To further support the evacuation efforts, Mrs. Soludo donated food, sanitary products, beverages, and cash contributions to the four holding centers in the Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Accompanying Mrs. Soludo were the Commissioner for Special Duties, Honorable Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, and other members of her delegation.
