Head of Civil Service of the Federation says State Civil Service must fully align with state-level priorities to enhance the reach of reforms in every desk, department, and district.

Mrs Esther Didi Walson-Jack said this at the opening Ceremony of a Study Tour organised for States Head of Service as part of activities marking the 2025 Nigeria Civil Service Week and the inaugural International Civil Service Day in Abuja, Nigeria.

She said the study tour is not just a moment of reflection, but a renewed call to action, an opportunity to reaffirm their shared vision and drive forward the next vital phase of transformation with clarity, purpose and resolve.

According to her, the Study Tour to key ministries and institutions in Abuja is borne out of the desire to learn, collaborate and innovate.

Our objectives are; to deepen our understanding of best practices in strategic planning, service delivery, and human capital management; To explore how digital tools and data-driven systems can reshape our operations for greater impact; To strengthen the bond between the Federal and State Civil Services –“One Service, Many Jurisdictions, One Vision”. She explained.

She further emphasised that the gathering was not organised for competition, but to completion.

The Head of Civil Service, Borno State, Dr. Mohammed Ghuzule said it’s a period of learning, relearning and unlearning.

We’ll see the transformation that is being taught and we’ll copy from whatever that we will learn from here, especially the transformation that the federal civil service is undergoing currently, so that we can replicate whatever that we see and learn from this visit,” he noted

Having had the audit, civil service audit, we’ll be able to determine what is the gap both in terms of the number and the skill mixed for the civil servants.”

The theme for the 2025 Civil Service Week is ” Leveraging Technology for a Smart and Agile Public Service”.
