DOSF-UK, a theatre company, is set to make its international debut with Kashimawo, a historical exposition bringing Nigerian history to European and diaspora audiences.
DOSF-UK’s Director, Chantal Edgar, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
Edgar said the play was inspired by the late Nigerian businessman and politician Moshood Abiola, popularly known as MKO. She added that the production also seeks to honour his memory and political legacy.
According to Edgar, Kashimawo is a historical play drawn from the life of the late businessman and his political struggles.

“Kashimawo is the second in a series of historical expositions designed to bring these productions to Europe and the diaspora.
“The beauty of Kashimawo lies in its wide sweep from the life of MKO, who inspired the play, to the confusing mischief of the gods as they seemed to play a different kind of game with the life of this ‘poor orphan’,” she said.
She noted that the play, supported by Mr Kola Abiola, son of the late businessman, was produced by actress and producer Tayo Elesin under the Elesin Productions platform.
The production, directed by Prof Rasaki Ojo, will feature veteran actor Biodun Abbey as Kashimawo, alongside other international cast members.
Kashimawo will make its international debut on 4 and 5 October in London.
The play was first staged in Lagos on 31 March and 1 April 2024. It was produced by the Duke of Shomolu Foundation and also directed by Prof Rasaki Ojo Bakare.
