“I Will Add Value To VON’s Mandate”- New DG

The new Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Jubrin Ndace has promised to add value to the mandate of the Organisation for authoritative, constructive, and development stories on Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large.

According to VON’s act, the mandates central to its operations include; broadcasting externally Nigeria’s viewpoint to any part of the world by providing a public service in the interest of Nigeria, reflecting views of Nigeria as a federation, and giving adequate expression to the culture, characteristics, affairs, and opinion of Nigeria, as well as ensure that news and programmes enhance Nigeria’s foreign policy and image.

The broadcast is meant for global reception in these languages; English, French, Arabic, Kiswahili, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Fulfude.

Mr Ndace made the promise as he assumed office in VON Broadcasting House Abuja on Monday.

The New DG was given a warm reception upon arrival by the former Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu as well as the management and Staff, showcasing a unified and supportive welcome.

Mr. Ndace expressed his dedication to taking the media organisation to new heights, emphasizing his role in facilitating progress.

Gratitude to President

He said; “I express my immense gratitude to the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris for finding me worthy to occupy this office and for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. I am indeed very grateful and I promise that the confidence they have repose in me will never be misplaced.”

Renew Hope Agenda

Mr Ndace stated that he has come to VON to work hard on the realisation of the Renew Hope Mantra of President Tinubu’s administration, promising to work on staff welfare, to achieve a common goal.

The President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda is laying the foundation for a vibrant ecosystem of digital enterprises that will contribute to economic growth and job creation.

He emphasized that VON truly the Voice of Nigeria, plays a pivotal role in conveying the Nigerian narrative to the global audience while enhancing the nation’s brand and contributing to its development.

Mr Ndace said; “I pledge as the new DG of VON, I will strive to uphold the ideals and mandate of the founding fathers of Voice of Nigeria. I will work with you to energise Voice of Nigeria on the global stage. I count on your support.”

The new DG solicited the cooperation and support of the management and staff of VON.

He enjoined all to work diligently and uphold the ideals of the founding fathers of the international radio organisation.

Mr Ndace paid glowing tributes to past leaders of the corporation and the outgoing director General, Osita Okechukwu for their immense contributions to the growth of the international broadcasting organisation.

Oiling The Wheel

In his address, the former DG, Mr Osita Okechukwu expressed his gratitude to the organization’s management and staff for their unwavering support throughout his service.

Mr Osita enumerated his modest contributions to VON in the last seven years, notably the acquisition of a new corporate headquarters, a modest attempt at a new housing scheme, and investment in Digital media operations among others.

He also encouraged the incoming DG to persist in addressing the challenges confronting the organisation.

Mr Ndace had a close door meeting with management staff, where he urged them to come up with solutions to the challenges facing the organisation, with a promise to take firm decision based on the overall interest of VON.

The new DG was guided on an extensive tour of the Voice of Nigeria facility, during which he reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the well-being of the staff.

The DG was accompanied to the VON’s corporate headquarters by friends and well wishers across the country and professional groups he belong to.

The New DG also visited the Digital Media and News Directorate.

One of the well-wishers is retired Brigadier General Usman Kuka Sheka. He said the new DG is a man of immense humility and very hard working.

He said “Ndace would deliver on all the expectations because he is a man of many parts.”
