No fewer than 855 residents of Adamawa State have benefitted from a free medical and surgical outreach sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, who represents Adamawa South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Mayo-Belwa and Ganye Local Government Areas, with the outreach held at the Primary Healthcare Centre in Mayo-Farang and the Palace of the Gangwari Ganye.
Speaking during the programme, Senator Yaroe stated that the initiative forms part of his ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of his constituents.
“This is what I have been doing, and I do not do it for recognition. Those I help know that I have supported them — it’s not about propaganda; it’s about making a real impact,” he said.
“Healthcare remains a top priority for me, and I will continue to deliver people-centred programmes that change lives.”
Dr Adediran Charles, lead consultant of the medical team in Mayo-Farang, reported that 845 patients received treatment, with 21 surgical operations successfully carried out.
“We distributed over 1,000 cards and treated patients for various conditions, including hernias, appendicitis, body lumps, and other ailments.
“All services — consultations, surgeries, laboratory tests, ultrasound scans, and medications — were provided completely free of charge,” he explained.
Dr Jama Medan, who led the team in Ganye, revealed that over 10 emergency cases were managed during the outreach.
“We treated cataracts and accident-related injuries and responded to cases of individuals collapsing at the venue. These patients were stabilised in our mobile hospital on site,” he said.
Several beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the senator and the medical team for the life-saving interventions.
Mrs Rahab Agabus, the mother of a young hernia patient, said, “My child suffered from a hernia for five years. We couldn’t afford treatment until now. Thanks to this surgery, he’s much better. I’m so grateful.”
Another beneficiary, Mr Muhammadu Mayo-Farang, added, “My son had surgery to correct a birth defect. I now have hope that he will live a normal life. We are truly thankful.”
This latest outreach adds to the growing list of health-focused interventions facilitated by Senator Yaroe, whose tenure has been marked by accessible and impactful programmes aimed at underserved communities.
