Infectious Disease And Research Centre bill scales first reading

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into first reading a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Infectious Disease and Research Centre ( NASIDARC) and other Matters Connected Therein.

The Speaker of the House, Balarabe Abdullahi, while announcing the first reading of the bill slated 21st March, 2022 for the second reading of the bill.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Tanko Tunga (APC- Awe North) , moved a motion for the bill to scale first reading.

The Minority Leader of the House, Hon Abel Bala ( PDP- Nassarawa Eggon West) , seconded the motion.

The House unanimously passed the bill into first reading.

In a related development, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has notified members of the State House of Assembly to travel to United States of America for a 10 day vacation from Wednesday, 2nd to Saturday, 12th March, 2022.

Speaker of the House Balarabe Abdullahi, read the Governor’s notification letter during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The letter read thus:

Notification to Travel to the United States of America.

” I present to the Rt. Hon Speaker and members of the Honourable House my compliments and those of the Government of Nasarawa State.

” I have the pleasure to notify the Rt.Hon Speaker that I shall be traveling to the United States of America for a ten ( 10) day vacation from Wednesday, 2nd to Saturday, 12th March, 2022.

” I hope to resume my normal duties on Monday, 14th March, 2022.

” Accordingly, in my absence, the Deputy Governor is to oversee the affairs of the state pending my return. This is in compliance to the provision of section 190(1) of the 1999 Constitution ( as amended),” the letter read.
