Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says national re-orientation will form part of the core of the Ministry’s work as part of efforts to build a new Nigeria.

The Minister was speaking when he played host to members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, at the Ministry’s office in Radio House, Abuja.

“It’s not just about disseminating information,” the Minister told the gathering, as he called on members of the NIPR to become partners in the rebuilding of Nigeria.

“Mr. President has said it several times since he assumed office that Nigeria is our country and there is no North, there is no South, but there is Nigeria.

“Mr. President is very passionate about building a new Nigeria and I want to ask you Mr. President (of NIPR) and members of this Institute that you please take the lead in ensuring that the national reorientation Mr. President seeks to achieve is being led by the NIPR itself.”

The President and Chairman, Governing Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Mukhtar Sirajo said his members were ready to work with the minister in achieving the goals of the ministry for Nigeria.

Sirajo told Voice of Nigeria that he had a strong belief in the capacity of the minister to deliver in the interests of Nigeria.

His words: “The Minister is a public relations practitioner and communications person. He’s in the industry, and in terms of image, he knows what the country requires at the moment. Unlike our previous experiences, this one is a professional to the core. So, I’m sure Nigerians are in for better times.”

During the meeting to congratulate the newly inaugurated Minister, the NIPR President presented the Institute’s 2022 summit report titled “Rebooting Nigeria 2.0,” which the Minister received and promised to look into in line with efforts to achieve the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Sirajo expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing a professional in Mohammad Idris to head the country’s Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He also invited the Minister to the NIPR’s 2023 Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday 24th August in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
