Ebonyi State Government Southeast Nigeria has restored peace in all the 13 Local Government Areas of the State through peace movement committee headed by the State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali.
The Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Council, Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga stated this to Journalists during the visit of the committee to the Council Headquarters Ugbodo.
Mrs Nwogbaga commended the efforts of the Committee as they have done a lot to ensure that peace returns to every Community in state.
The Chairman said the the stakeholders of various communities were in all the Local Government Areas of the State were involved in the peace mission of the State.
“Following the insecurity in Ebonyi State starting from EndSARS protest and Communal clashes, burning of Police Stations and some Government properties in the State, the State Government quickly constituted a peace committee headed by the State Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali which has today concluded their peace campaign here in Ebonyi Local Government and from what we discussed here, am sure that God willing, everywhere will be calm”. She said.
Mr Nwogbaga said that “To ensure adequate security in the State, every Community and village
must have their Town Union Presidents, Traditional rulers, and village heads respectively. This would help to constitute vigilantes and to easily secure the Communities”.
She urged the Youths to eschew harmful behavior such as smoking of Indian hemps which can lead them into social vices.
“It’s not all about empowering you with money, you must learn one trade Which will help you to manage any monetary empowerment that might come your way. This is time to help yourself and define what you want in life”. She advised.
The Chairman of the Committee, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali thanked the People of Ebonyi Local Government Council for welcoming them.
Nwali advised the people of the Local Government Area to remain peaceful which they are known for.
He said “if you are peaceful and love one another, there will never be insecurity because you will collectively fight your common enemy.”
The former Nigeria Minister of power and steel, Chief Godwin Ogbaga thanked the peace committee but requested that teachers as agents of moral development should be properly remunerated and supervised.
“Teachers have a lot to contribute towards making a society crime free by impacting good virtues on our children and youths. Government should give them appropriate remuneration and monitored as well”.
The former Chairman of the Local Government Barrister Anselm Enigwe advised that youths should be appropriately captured in national budget.
Enigwe said some of them were misbehaving due to frustration.
