The Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Major General Garba Wahab (Retired), has underscored the importance of collaboration, asserting that no single nation is capable of achieving security independently, and that no organisation can effectively secure a nation without fostering relationships with other countries.
General Wahab announced this during the launch of a program focused on Leadership, Resilience, and Artificial Intelligence, held in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
He emphasised that the program highlights the importance of working together. That’s why they invited experts from King’s College London, who bring a lot of knowledge and real-world experience to the table.
General Wahab said that both Centres share experience, look at what is happening globally, what are the implications for them, and how do they go about solving their problems.
“We want to challenge the senior officers to start thinking outside the box adding that
“We talk about collaboration, you must bring something to the table, you must bring knowledge and you must bring experience,” he said.
General Wahab urged individuals to evaluate both their strengths and weaknesses, emphasising the importance of addressing weaknesses while ensuring that they do not undermine their established strengths.
He highlighted that all individuals are inherently human, possessing unique needs, requirements, perceptions, and biases.
He emphasised that individuals in positions of responsibility must rise above personal biases and interests when making decisions.
Speaking with conviction, he stated that such decisions should serve the greater good of society, placing national welfare and the well-being of humanity above familial or personal concerns.
Earlier, the Team Leader, London, Professor Randolph Kent said it is proper for countries to share their experience to know the best way to tackle any challenge in any situation.
According to him, the outcomes of the programme are three.
The first is that it is so important to benefit from the experience of the Nigerian military.
The second is to share our experiences and to share our lessons that we all can bring to this. And the third is that we have a new way of looking at things in terms of policy, in terms of concept, operations, and ultimately in terms of how we work together in the future.
Similarly, the Former Executive Director of NARC Consult, Major General James Myan (Retired) said they should embrace technology and innovation especially the army officers, for gradually it is becoming integrated into every process that they do in daily living.
“And as practitioners in the field, it is very important that senior military officers get acquainted with the rudiments of AI so that they can also enhance their processes in the field,” he said.
Meanwhile, people should not be afraid of losing their jobs because of AI rather, it will reinforce everything we do for the betterment of our societies. Thank you, sir. Sir, please tell us your name.
