Iran, Uzbekistan forge technological partnership

Iran and Uzbekistan are forging technological collaboration with a focus on the establishment of a joint technology park situated in the Samarkand region.

This initiative, geared towards fostering technological advancements, will encompass key sectors including healthcare, the digital economy, and cultural industries. The collaborative effort reflects the shared commitment of both nations to harness technology for economic development and innovation.

Furthermore, both nations have embarked on a collaborative endeavour to elevate their bilateral trade volume to $1 billion. This ambitious goal is supported by a substantial $10 million technological cooperation agreement specifically focused on the energy sector.

Strong economic bond

Ambassador Fariddin Nasriev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran, underscored the strong economic bonds between the two nations. During the Iran Lab Expo 2024, he disclosed that the bilateral trade volume exceeded $500 million in the previous year.

Looking forward, there are ambitious plans to double the trade turnover to $1 billion, highlighting the substantial depth and potential of their economic collaboration.

During the 11th exhibition of advanced materials, laboratory equipment, testing, and experimentation, Uzbekistan’s envoy to Iran highlighted his country’s growing dependence on Iran-made laboratory equipment.

The envoy noted the symbiotic relationship between Iranian knowledge-based companies and the technological needs of Uzbekistan.

House of Innovation and Technology

As part of its commitment to enhancing scientific cooperation, Iran has also inaugurated the Iran House of Innovation and Technology (iHiT) in Tashkent.

This strategic move is designed to highlight Iran’s prowess in knowledge-based, technological, and creative products, aiming to showcase these strengths in Uzbekistan. The ultimate objective is to foster deeper scientific interactions and cooperation between the two nations.
